The week in rock and faux Mexican

I did manage to try the Saturday Night Metal night at Boulevard Tavern last weekend for about an hour. It was fun knowing almost all the songs played.

K came into town and we went to Katatonia at BB King's Thursday, good show. Spotted the singer from the amazing French band Gojira checking out the show as well.

After the show, we stopped at the Williamsburg San Loco. I'm glad that I can keep up the late night, post-show San Loco tradition here in Brooklyn now instead of the 2nd Ave location I was used to frequenting.

Fall is coming.

This is my favorite time of year when the sun gets all low and golden and you know summer is on the way out for another year. The light was perfectly late-summer, grabbed a quick shot with my phone cam.

Photoblog - Saturday night at Coney Island

I figured I should get in some quality Coney time before the impending destruction metamorphosis. Headed down where as referenced by a previous post, I found out the Retro 50 Diner was RIP. If I wasn't so lazy about commuting into Manhattan for work, I wouldn't mind living back in south Brooklyn. The commute from Bay Parkway in Bensonhurst to Manhattan was killer though for someone like me who can't ever get up on time.

Some photos of the Coney jaunt --

RIP Retro 50 Diner, Coney Island

Went there last night to find it shut down *just* recently. While it was not quite a mecca of fine dining, I've gone there with many friends over the years, sometimes we ate while the sun came up after a long, fun night out, so I am really going to miss it.
